Tom Hanks revealed his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis in the most Tom Hanks-y way possible: with a self-deprecating joke on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
The actor, whose high-seas thriller Captain Phillips hits multiplexes this weekend, updated Dave on his latest film project, along with his health.
Looking slimmer these days, the two-time Oscar winner joked that it’s a perk of having Type 2 diabetes, saying his doctor quipped, “You’ve graduated. You’ve got Type 2 diabetes, young man.”
Tom at 57 added he’s been struggling with high blood pressure for much of his mid-life, but that his condition is “controllable” and despite the latest diagnosis, he’s healthy.
Then he threw in a little gallows humor, concluding, “Something’s going to kill us all, Dave.”
