Our 90's Teen Idols: Where Are They Now?

I can still remember the centerfold of Devon Sawa I had stapled on my bedroom door as a kid. Of course, my overprotective parents made me take it down, shortly after, in fear that I was too Hollywood-obsessed. Boy, did I prove them wrong.

While some of our Tiger Beat heartthrobs are still in the limelight, like Will Smith, for example, there are some that seem to have disappeared.

Jonathan Taylor Thomas: He was the only reason we put up with Tim Allen grunting constantly on Home Improvement. Since The Lion King, JTT has made guest appearances on Smallville and Veronica Mars. He directed a short film in 2006 called The Extra and has been denying rumors that he’s gay.

Andrew Keegan: The last thing I remember Keegan in was 10 Things I Hate About You. Since then, he’s starred in several straight-to-video movies, like Kill Speed.

Brad Renfro: Sadly, Renfro died of a heroin overdose in 2008. Renfro spent years battling his drug addictions. He was arrested in 1998, at the mere age of 15, for cocaine possession. In 2000, Renfro tried to steal a 45-foot yacht. He was arrested and charged with grand theft. He starred in the 2009 film, The Informers, based on a Bret Easton Ellis novel.

Devon Sawa: Like contemporary heartthrob Justin Bieber, Sawa was born in Canada. He started his career as a spokesperson for toys. He’s made guest appearances in NCIS and Nikita. In 2000, Sawa was arrested for public intoxication, and in 2005, he had an incident with a SWAT team after beating up his girlfriend. I can’t believe I drew a heart around that face.

Rider Strong: Rider Strong had some serious acting chops in Boy Meets World, and while he occasionally has made appearances in shows like Bones and Castle, he’s more gone the screenwriting route. In 2008, Strong won Best First Time Filmmaker at the Washington DC Short Film Festival for a movie he made with his brother.
