The “Can’t Be Tamed” singer is off the hook.
Following reports that Miley had punched a club goer at Beacher’s Madhouse in Hollywood, she has been cleared of the criminal battery charge. Surveillance video of the scene will serve as proof of her innocence.
According to TMZ, the video has been turned over to police, but a source told the celebrity gossip site that the recorded evidence captures Miley NOT hitting the accuser.
The video seems to back the tune that Miley’s rep was singing all along. Last week, the source told Hollyscoop “this claim is completely false and erroneous.”
Erroneous indeed... After all, the proof is now in the pudding. Or, in this case, the grainy nightclub footage, which no one has access to.
In the initial report, a man – likely trying to get a little money out of his celebrity sighting – accused Miley of punching him. She reportedly was trying to protect her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, who was arguing with the dude after he repeatedly bumped into The Hunger Games actor’s chair.
Miley and Liam were interviewed separately by police after the man filed a battery report, each giving identical accounts of how the non-drama unfolded.
No word on how escalated things actually got, but we can absolutely confirm that no fists were exchanged.
According to reports, there will likely be no charges filed…
The high-profile couple continued to sport their good behavior during a Sunday night trip to the Troubadour in West Hollywood. Liam wore an open, grey button-down and jeans, while Miley draped herself in a loose, knee-length black dress and had her hair parted over in schoolboy fashion.
