Just as you were recounting your amazing July 4th weekend tanning in Palm Springs to your co-workers, this just in: Lindsay Lohan first overdosed when she was just 18 years old. Oh, man, talk about a buzzkill.
Her father and unofficial publicist Michael Lohan retold the story to The Sun, revealing his daughter’s first OD episode was reportedly in 2005 while filming the rom-com Just My Luck in New Orleans.
“I got a call saying she had overdosed on cocaine,” Michael said. “One of her assistants had given her the drug. I was so angry I got a gun from the house and planned to go to New Orleans to kill him. I couldn’t believe what had happened to my daughter. I was just so angry.”
Lindsay is currently in a Southern California rehab center, nearly through a court-ordered 90-days of treatment for drugs and alcohol.
Reports and Michael’s own recent visit to Lindsay—“When I saw her at the Betty Ford Center she was looking the best I have seen her in the past seven years”—are promising, appearing to suggest she’s recovering with minimal drama. However, he fears that if she can’t make a full recovery after her sixth attempt at rehab, it’ll be the end of her career.
“If Lindsay does relapse, then I think it will be over for her with Hollywood,” he said. “There will be no more second or third chances. She has got to stay clean and sober this time.”
