Most people have a godparent, it's usually a close friend of your parents. When someone asks you to be the godparent of their child it's a huge honor or it's code for "You have to be available to baby sit, no questions asked."
Here are some celebs that might surprise you are godparents too.
Lady Gaga: Lady Gaga is the godmother to Elton John's son. Gaga and Elton met last January when they performed together at the Grammy's and collaborated on "Gnomeo and Juliet" and I guess the rest is history.
Elton John: Elton John is the godfather to both the Beckham boys, Brooklyn and Romero. Their godmother is Liz Hurley. This is like a who's who of diva UK royalty. Can one extended family be so posh? Fun Fact: Elton John is the godfather of 10 other kids too. Talk about a deadbeat god-dad.
Jake Gyllenhaal: Gyllenhaal is godfather to Michelle Williams and Heath Ledgers daughter, Matilda Rose. Jake, Michelle, and Heath all starred together in "Brokeback Mountain." So it makes sense that Heath and Jake became close friends after playing onscreen lovers. Who better than to god parent your kid than the dude you kissed? That's not weird, right?
Jamie Lee Curtis: While Gyllenhaal is a famous godparent himself, his godmother is even more famous. Jamie Lee Curtis is his godmother. Jake's dad is director Stephen Gyllenhaal and growing up he was surrounded by his dads famous friends like Paul Newman and Dustin Hoffman.
Drew Barrymore: Drew is the godmother to Courtney Love's daughter Francis Bean Cobain. That's super random. But apparently these two met back in day during their adolescent bad girl phases, Love says she met Barrymore "in a bathroom, smoking. I was 19 and she was like, 8." You saw an 8 year old smoking and made that same person the god parent of your child?
Jennifer Aniston: Jennifer is the godmother to Courtney Cox and David Arquettes daughter Coco. That's a no-brainer, Courtney and Jennifer have been besties forever. I'm sure there's even a "Friends" episode about it. "The One Where Rachel Becomes A Godmother" is an episode right?
Bono: Bono is the godfather to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins Knox and Vivenne. After spending some time at Bono's Southern France chateau they asked him to godfather their twins. At first they asked Elton John but he was like, "Nah, I've already got 10 godkids."
Michael Jackson: Jackson was the godfather to Nicole Richie. Say whhhaaat? Actually that's not that random. Jackson and Lionel Richie were buddies and wrote the hit "We Are the World" together.
Steven Spielberg: Spielberg is Drew Barrymore's godfather. So that's how she got that role in ET.
