First Italy, and now, even New Jersey is trying to get rid of Jersey Shore. We’re running out of places to send these people.
Snooki and JWoww, the two Jersey Shore besties, have been in talks for their spinoff show for a while now, but there’s one more hurdle the fist-pumping pair has to overcome. And that hurdle is Hoboken, New Jersey.
The Mayor of Hoboken, Dawn Zimmer, just announced on her website that the reality show has had their request for film permit rejected. The Hoboken Film Commission unanimously voted to deny the permit to 495 Productions “based on protecting the public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents.”
Quality of life? Did these people not watch Season 4? Because those Italians seemed to be having a pretty good time mocking the entire cast!
According to the mayor, there’s a slew of problems that come with approving a 24-hour permit in Hoboken. For example, there’s a local policy that prohibits all filming after 11pm in residential areas. Seeing as how Snooki usually stays in bed until midnight, yeah, that might be a little bit of an issue.
Zimmer claims that filming the Jersey Shore spinoff in Hoboken would result in an “unacceptable lessening of the quality of life for the local residents and businesses.”
Okay, I tried. But you know it’s bad when your mere presence ruins the lives of 50,005 people.
Zimmer says the show would cause traffic, create large noisy crowds, and completely disrupt day-to-day life.
Yeah but what about all the booze they’d be buying? These kids buy a lot of booze. Enough to stimulate Hoboken’s economy, I would think.
