The 38-year-old actress was receiving an accolade for her humanitarian work, spanning causes from refugee issues to victims of sexual violence, where she was accompanied by her partner Brad Pitt and their son Maddox.
In her acceptance speech, she thanked them both, starting with her first adopted son, now 12 years old: “Mad, I’m not going to cry right now, promise. I’m not going to embarrass you. You and your brothers and your sisters are my happiness. There’s no greater honor in this world than being your mom.”
