Like mama, like daughter…
Following in the footsteps of her A-list and über-talented mother, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will make her acting debut in the highly anticipated film Maleficent. The 4-year-old will play a child version of a princess in the original film Sleeping Beauty.
A statement from the film’s production company, Walt Disney Studios, confirms the news…
“Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne will play a minor role as the child version of Princess Aurora opposite her mother in Maleficent,” the statement reads.
According to the studio, the new live action installment will rework the original tale, focusing in on the story of the franchise’s villain, Maleficent, played by Jolie.
“The live-action film explores the origins of Disney’s most iconic villain, Maleficent, and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic Sleeping Beauty,” the statement continues.
In Disney's spin off projects that combine their repertoire of villains into one evil clan such as in the television series “Disney’s House of Mouse,” Maleficent is almost always portrayed as the leader.
Both in photos from the set and in promotional material, Angelina has already been spotted in costume, seemingly made to played the role of the evil mistress who curses the princess… The likeness between the cartoon villain and Jolie in wardrobe and makeup is uncanny.
Playing the more grown up version of Vivienne’s charter will be actress Elle Fanning, Dakota’s sister who appears to be taking Hollywood by storm with films like Super 8 and We Bought a Zoo.
Maleficent is currently in production and is expected in theaters in March 2014.
