Time magazine has released their annual list of the world’s most influential people, and it probably doesn’t come as a shock that many mainstream celebrities are on the list, including Zac Efron, Sarah Palin, Tina Fey, and
Penelope Cruz.
None of the aforementioned made the top of the list, but they can be proud of just making the exclusive list, which
Time says features “leaders, thinkers, artists, titans, and icons who shape our thinking.”
Richard Corliss, movie critic at
Time, says, “Here’s why we chose
Zac Efron. We all know he’s a movie star….but this one-man boy band has the ambition and the skills to be a great movie actor.”
Time magazine editor-at-large Belinda Luscombe says
Tina Fey made the list because of two seemingly simple traits: she’s smart, and she’s funny.
She says, “There was this myth going around for a while that women couldn’t be smart and funny, and she has completely exploded that myth, and opened the door for dozens and dozens of other funny women to step forward.”
Sarah Palin may be a controversial one to have made the list, but
Time backs her for being the most energetic during the 2008 Presidential race, but also the most polarizing figure. The magazine says, “We feel that over the next several years, she’s going to be a major player in the Republican party.”
Several other Hollywood hotshots were high on the list, including the
Jonas Brothers, who came in at #33,
Lil Wayne at #12, and
Kate Winslet at #29. Click
