Ole` Ole` Ole` Ole` Ole` Italia won, Italia won. I must say this is the one game that I was actually rooting for both teams. I didn’t have a preference because I love both Italy and France, especially their men. This is the fourth World Cup title for Italy who beat the ten-man France team 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

“It was Italy's first successful shoot-out in a FIFA World Cup after previous failures in 1990, 1994 and 1998 and ironically it was a miss from France’s David Trezeguet – whose golden goal defeated the Azzurri in the final of UEFA EURO 2000 – that opened the door for Fabio Grosso to fire the winning spot-kick past Fabien Barthez and spark celebrations all the way from Bergamo to Bari.

If penalties can resemble a lottery there could have been no more deserving match winner than Grosso, such a positive influence for Italy throughout this tournament. He was prominent again in a first period where the Italians played the more fluent football yet it was France who took an early lead. Eight years after scoring twice in the FIFA World Cup Final in Paris, Zidane opened the scoring with a seventh-minute penalty after Materazzi’s trip on Florent Malouda. By the 19th minute, Materazzi had made amends, however, the big defender heading the equaliser from Andrea Pirlo’s corner. Although both sides threatened to score a second – notably Italy’s Luca Toni, who headed against Fabien Barthez’s crossbar before the break.

As you are all aware by now we are in Miami and if you are familiar with Miami you know that it’s a non stop party with beautiful international people. We are headed to Sega Fredos for the after party. Holla!!

It has certainly been a long and gruesome World Cup but the final stage for the Fifa World Cup is finally set, as Italy and France take each other on in the World Cup Final in Berlin, Germany. After a dramatic win against host nation Germany in extra time, Italy advanced and waited for the winner between France and Portugal. The last time Italy has made the World Cup final was in 1994 as Italy lost to Brazil in Penalty shootout. Italy has won the World Cup title three times, 1934, 1938 and 1982 as they come into the World Cup Final as the favorites. As for France, after an embarrassing World Cup in 2002, France advances to the World Cup final for the first time since 1998. France has won only once, which was in 1998 as they stunned Brazil by a score of 3:0. These two teams Italy and France have been rivals in World Cup soccer for a long time, and it will be very interesting to see these two face off. The last time these two met was in World Cup 1998 in a quarterfinal match up as Italy lost to France in penalty shootout. As for the losers, Germany and Portugal, they play each other for third place in the World Cup on July 8th in Stuttgart, Germany.

Next matches:
July 8th, Stuttgart, Germany, Germany vs. Portugal
July 9th, Berlin, Germany, Italy vs. France

Don't MISS out on Breaking News!

After a long and frustrating match between the Brits and Portugal, Portugal finally defeated England in penalty shootout after a scoreless 90 minutes and a scoreless extra time period.

Everything started to go downhill for England after Hollyscoop favorite David Beckham got hurt and was forced to sit out and after Wayne Rooney got a red card. Maybe it would have been different for England if Beckham was healthy throughout the entire game and if Rooney didn’t get a red card. But nonetheless, Portugal beat England in a penalty shootout by a score of 3:1 and Portugal advances and waits for the winner between Brazil and France. It’s a shame that England is eliminated, but maybe in the next world cup things will be different, on the other hand congratulations to Germany, Italy and Portugal for advancing to the semi finals.

It was no surprise to see Brazil, known to be one of the best teams in the world defeat the underdogs, Ghana by a score of 3:0, and Brazil now advances to the quarterfinals after a long but exciting game against Ghana.

On the other side of the bracket, we see France and Spain face off in the Round of 16 and the winner takes on Brazil in the quarterfinals. The French worried that this may be Zinadine Zidane’s last and final game, since he announced retirement after the World Cup. But Zidane can live to see another World Cup day after a 3:1 victory over Spain sends them to the quarterfinals to take on Brazil in a World Cup 1998 rematch, while Spain on the other hand heads home after losing another match In the Round of 16.

Spain is the only team in World Cup history who has won over 20 games and not won a single World Cup title, as they lost in the quarterfinals in 2002 against the co-host nation South Korea. Don’t worry Spain, maybe it will be different in 2010. On the Other hand congratulations to all the teams who advanced to the quarterfinals:

England, Portugal, Brazil, France, Germany, Argentina, Italy and Ukraine.

Next matches: June 30th Germany vs. Argentina, and Italy vs. Ukraine, July 1st England vs. Portugal, and Brazil vs. France.

Our number one hubby David Beckham helped bring his team England to victory after scoring the opening goal during the soccer match between England and Ecuador.

England advanced to the last eight of the 2006 FIFA World Cup as a second-half free-kick from Beckham proved enough to secure a 1-0 victory over Ecuador. Beckham had not scored a goal for England for more than three years but his superb strike on the hour in Stuttgart took his team through to a quarter-final date with either Portugal or the Netherlands. It also made him the first England player to score in three separate FIFA World Cup tournaments.

We actually gave up some time on our beauty sleep to wake up early and watch this match. We couldn’t miss the opportunity to watch Beckham bend it like he always does. All we have to say is OLE, OLE, OLE, OLE, England, England!

The United States had to hope for a win against Ghana and they also had to hope for Italy defeating the Czechs so the United States can advance to the Round of 16. But it seemed as if this goal will be nothing but a dream as the United States lost to Ghana 2:1.

The United States has been eliminated and is advancing out of group E, also known as “the Group of Death”. Italy defeated the Czech Republic 2:0 and the underdogs of the group, Ghana. Ghana in the beginning of the World Cup came into the game looking at the toughest schedule, first against Italy then the Czechs and then the United States, but these brave guys gave it all they had and now they advance with a record of 2 wins and 1 loss. Congratulations to all the teams that are advancing to the Round of 16.

Teams that advance: Germany, Ecuador, Sweden, England, Brazil, Australia, Italy, Ghana, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Ukraine .More to be determined……

World Cup Score for Monday June 19, 2006:
Togo 0 : 2 Switzerland

Spain went in for the second victory with 3 goals against Tunisia as Switzerland and Ukraine got their first win at the World Cup. The photos are really interesting and I really wish I was in Germany for all the excitement.

Argentina vs. Serbia-Montenegro 6-0
Netherlands vs. Cote D Ivoire 2-1
Mexico vs. Angola 0-0

All I can say from all these games is wow Argentina kicked some crazy a$$ today. Correct me if I am wrong but I think that this team has been the highest scoring team so far in the 2006 World Cup. Congrads on all the winning teams, and to all the losers: better luck next time.
