Every African American celebrity right now is obsessed with being the black version of James Bond. We’ve heard it from Jermaine Dupri, Tyrese, 50 Cent, and Jamie Foxx. And now we can add Will Smith to the growing list.
Will recently said he was confident that he could draw in moviegoers as the first black James Bond. When a fan asked him who cold play the role the best, out of him, P. Diddy, and Jamie Foxx, he replied, "Puff probably lives the most like James Bond, Jamie Foxx got the swag for James Bond. He can sing too, so he can add a new element to Bond.”
Sounds like Will had a change of heart. A few months ago when Hollyscoop asked him if he would want to be the first black James Bond, he said, “Listen, there's certain characters that we gotta leave alone.” So much for that!
Will Smith definitely knows how to play the part of a special agent. In fact, he’s reportedly reprising his role of Agent Jay in the third installment of Men In Black.
He tells Extra, "The team has committed, so we have to do it service with the creative part of it. Everyone is on board, so we will see what happens."
The film is slated to come out in 2011, but Will just wants to play special agent Bond. He says his secret is “Wooing the ladies... and I think I can guarantee the box office.”
As of now though, Daniel Craig is slated to appear in the next Bond film. So it looks like Smith will have to wait! Check out our special video coverage of who should play Bond and you tell us, who would make the better Bond? Daniel Craig or Will Smith?
