Will Smith Denies Scientology Claims

Will Smith

Every other week there's a new rumor about how Will Smith is converting to Scientology to please his good pal Tom Cruise.

This time around Smith was quick to shoot down the rumors, claiming "I am a Christian," he also added, "I am a student of all religions. And I respect all people and all paths." Phewww that was a close call! We thought we lost him for a minute there.

Smith told the NY Daily News, "You don't have to be Jewish to be a friend of Steven Spielberg. You don't have to be a Muslim to be a friend of Muhammad Ali. And you don't have to be a Scientologist to be a friend of Tom Cruise."

That's as plain and simple as it gets. Let's put these Scientology rumors to rest once and for all people.

He's working for the cult IMO. scientologists lie.

I gotta say I'm with Liam on this one. I'm at least skeptical. All that time with a notorious cult recruiter (Cruise) must mean something. Smith mentions Spielberg with regard to Judaism, yet as far as I know Spielberg doesn't devote all his non-filmmaking energies to spreading his faith. Spielberg didn't set up a Judaism tent on any of his film sets. Cruise has done that for $cientology.

Yeah, whatever. David Miscavige wants a sandwich, now. Get on it, Will.

I don't believe him either.

Where's there's smoke, there's fire. Sorry, I have my doubts that Will Smith is telling the truth.
Posted by: retired on 03/18/2008 12:49 PM

he's not lying or telling the truth. *When it's convenient* they claim that scientology isn't a religion, it's self help. So theoretically, Will could have joined scientology and still be a christian. Like he said with his student of all faiths line. the question we should ask is not "are you a scientologist," but how involved are you and what, if anything have you learned from scientology. that might get us a more accurate picture.

will smith is the most gorgeous guy i have ever seen. and such a nice guy and a brilliant actor.
Posted by: rana on 03/18/2008 03:49 PM

Well Liam, Narcissus, anonymous and the rest of you(except for rana) are so pathetic you are spreading hate and bigotry jumping to conclusions and it seems rana is the only one making any sense in this thread and Hollyscoop with the quote 'Let's put these Scientology rumors to rest once and for all people.' I'd also like to add to that we stop jumping to conclusions before the star even gets a chance to respond to these claims and stop going on stupid tirades spreading hatred and bigotry like hollyscoop and others on here do.
Posted by: Jason on 03/18/2008 04:58 PM

He already refuted the claim so it's time for you dumbasses to get that through your head and shut the fuck up.
Posted by: Jason on 03/18/2008 05:00 PM

What's so bigoted about being skeptical, dumbass Jason? YOU shut the fuck up.
Posted by: Narcisssus on 03/18/2008 05:07 PM

Will Smith sucks
Posted by: gary on 03/19/2008 06:35 AM

"hate and bigotry" = Scientology buzzword. They love accusing everyone and anyone who disagrees with or criticizes them as a "bigot." Nice try, Jason.

Yeah, I don't trust him or his alien looking wife no more. I don't care how cute he is. Are you noticing how he's hanging out with Jada and Oprah at events trying to get people to buy into his "I'm for Obama, the racist" crap? Oprah's another one, seems like she recommends quacks (Dr. Phil and what's that guy's name, the one who killed Kanye's mom on Oprah's suggestion?), fake authors and other scientology fruitcakes. That Kirstie Alley chick is a mess. Now Oprah gives her a show after firing the psych (Dr. Phil). Wonder who's influencing there? I think they are trying to live out a fantasy that they think no one else is onto. I am banning my kids from watching anything by Will Smith, Oprah, Jada, Usher and all those other silly actors. I'd rather watch foreign flix than patronize these fakes ever again.

Narcissus, can't you see it's one of their braindead plants? They come on here trying to influence only to look stupid when the world begins to gang up on them. They can say what they like. We will say and do the same until that organization finally gets toppled. Anonymous will picket all their films. We know that they are funneling money to them and we don't believe them anymore. As time progresses, Anonymous becomes larger. We will picket Will Smith and the rest of them. When he starts talking about cracking open the files of Scientology we will begin to believe him somewhat. Otherwise, forget it. We are not going to be victims to these horrible fakes.

Actually, you DO have to be a $cientologist to hang out with Tom Cruise. It's called "Disconnection"
Posted by: Peaches on 04/21/2008 06:37 PM

It's never enough for you people...Will has been a Christian and has followed Christian beliefs for as long as he's been mainstream, but yet you're quick to dismiss and call him a liar...fuckin' HATE fickle ass humans. Ya'll don't know a man outside of what you see on TV or hear in the news. None of you spend personal time with these people but are so quick to judge like you're so clean ya cot damn selves.

I can't believe I'm wasting my time doing this, but seriously, you guys know nothing about what you're talking about. If you're just going to make random accusations on the internet then you're a loser with a computer. If you're going to insult Will Smith, do it to his face or not at all. How would you like it if people just randomly started accusing you of lying about your faith?
Posted by: Ed on 05/22/2008 01:22 PM

Will what are you talking about? Steven Spielberge and Muhammed Ali are people. Scientology is a secular religious belief outside of the Bible. But I did look at other articles about Oprah and the Academy she started. I just know that while your contribution is up from $20k still short on overall investment in education the second time around.
