The Smith family isn’t just oozing with talent, they’re apparently really supportive too.
The actor spoke with People magazine about their successful relationship, putting an end to rumors that their marriage could be on the rocks.
“We make the effort to always put the family first,” he told People. “Being there for each other and being present with our kids is the most important thing. I take being a parent very seriously."
Smith has two children with Jada, Jaden, 13, and Willow, 11 as well as 19-year-old Trey from his first marriage. He has been known to be protective of his kids, walking hand-in-hand with them on the red carpet and remaining on their movie sets when they are shooting various projects.
For Smith, fitting in home life with career life is essential when it comes to balancing the acting-musician family. While shooting Men In Black 3, he flew home to Los Angeles from the New York City shooting location to spend time with the family.
But being a good dad isn’t the only thing that Smith is excessively awesome at. He can also bring in massive numbers at the box office.
Men In Black 3 brought home the number one spot on its Memorial Day weekend debut with $70 million in earnings. The film was Smith’s first movie appearance since 2008’s Seven Pounds.
The alien-invested blockbuster that capped the trilogy became the first film to bump The Avengers from its three-week strong hold on the number one position. Avengers has now earned a head-throbbing $1.3 billion worldwide.
The domestic box office top five played out like this:
1. Men In Black 3 — $70.0 million
2. The Avengers — $46.9 million
3. Battleship – $13.6 million
4. The Dictator — $11.8 million
5. Dark Shadows — $9.4 million
Smith and Jada Pinkett will celebrate their anniversary in December. Until then, they’ll continue to count their blessings and make kissy faces at each other.
“I'm so lucky to have someone like Jada. She's really an incredible woman, wife and mother," he said.
