If Ron Burgundy says it, it’s the truth!
Will Ferrell confirmed on Wednesday night that there will be a sequel to his 2004 hit comedy, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. So yeah, expect another five years of hearing quotes from this movie, people.
Will appeared on Conan last night, taking the stage in a burgundy suit and white striped tie, totally in character as Ron Burgundy. And yes, his hair looked great.
He said to Conan O’Brien: "I like to keep my chops up, jam with the cats here ... smoke a little tea afterwards, see if a little backstage Judy ends up on my lap."
Burgundy/Ferrell complimented Conan on his broadcasting skills, but he did have one criticism:
“You look awful.”
“You look like someone put a bright red fright wig on a skeleton and chucked it out of a helicopter.”’
And then Ferrell made his big announcement. "To my friends, in Spain, Turkey and the U.K including England ... as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for 'Anchorman.' It is official, there will be a sequel to 'Anchorman.'"
Anchorman co-writer Adam McKay told MTV News that he expected the original cast to partake in the sequel. That includes Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate, David Koechner, Chris Parnell and Fred Willard.
“It's a tricky movie because everyone went and did really well after it, so everyone's prices went up and everyone's time got a little more valuable,” McKay said.
The movie will be produced by Judd Apatow while McKay will direct.
Stay classy San Diego.
