Kevin Costner starred alongside Whitney Houston in her hit, 'The Bodyguard', and now the actor is reportedly planning to speak at Houston’s funeral.
A family source told People of Costner’s appearance, and added that both Aretha Franklin and Steve Wonder will be performing at the service. Clive Davis, Whitney’s record producer from the start of her career, will also speak during the ceremony.
The source said: “Whitney’s family is devastated, but they’re getting through it.”
They added that Davis has been by the family’s side throughout the tragedy.
“Clive has been a complete rock for her family this entire time. He's been with her since the beginning, and he's been everything to them. They're leaning on him for emotional support. He talks to them hourly, and he's a very big part in planning her funeral. Clive has been a constant presence for them. They're thanking God for Clive."
In the 1992 hit ‘The Bodyguard,’ Whitney plays a music star threatened by a stalker. Kevin Costner plays a former secret Service agent who protects her and eventually falls in love with her. The movie made over $400 million at the box office and it was in that movie that Whitney sang ‘I Will Always Love You.’
Another source told the media that Jay-Z, Beyonce, Elton John, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Cosby will also be at the funeral. Pastor Mavin L. Winans will preside over the service, and he told Anderson Cooper:
“We loved her when she was Nippy in New Jersey. The world loved her because of her voice. But if Nippy could not sing, the Houston family would love her, and I knew that Mama Houston would do it the way she wanted it done. We're going to church, and we're not going to be worried about if the world can get in."
