Nicki Minaj showed up wearing a Versace costume/outfit that looked like Lady Gaga meets Little Red Riding Hood meets The Flying Nun. Katy Perry chose to match her outfit with her hair color. Rihanna wore a black open-backed Armani dress.
As the awards ceremony began, Dave Koz, the co-host of the Grammys, addressed the tragedy, and honoring the "great legacy of Miss Whitney Houston."
"She's in our hearts and our minds," Koz said.

Here is what we know so far: Whitney was found dead in the bathtub of her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton and pronounced dead at 3:55pm on Saturday.
According to TMZ, her stylist, hairdresser and two bodyguards were among the people in the room at the time
The crime scene investigation surrounding Whitney Houston's death is still going on, on the fourth floor and Whitney's body is still present. She was reportedly found in the bathtub and prescription drugs were present.
Whitney was reportedly getting ready for Clive’s party in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton when her body was discovered. Sources at the hotel say she was partying heavily last night with a group of friends. “Whitney and her friends were in the bar for a time and the group was drinking and very loud,” reports TMZ.

Whitney Houston started her career in the 80’s and throughout that decade and most of the 90’s she was considered a “good girl” with a fantastic voice. But around the late 90’s her behavior started to change. She started to show up late to interviews, photo shoots and rehearsals. This wasn’t the Whitney her camp knew. It was a different Whitney.
Singing legend Whitney Houston tragically passed away today at the age of 48. Her on-again off-again beau Ray J found her body.
Whitney's rep confirmed to the Associated Press that she passed away on Saturday afternoon, but wouldn't give further details as to what caused her death. We know that she passed away at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Paramedics performed CPR but it did not work and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM. A police crime lab vehicle was seen outside the hotel just moments ago, according to TMZ. Hollyscoop sources say she was in her room getting ready for the Clive Davis party.

On a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta, Georgia Wednesday afternoon, Whitney Houston reportedly threw a fit after refusing to put her seatbelt on.
According to TMZ, the 47 year-old singer, who has a history of drug abuse, "got diva" with a flight attendant. The flight attendant told Houston to buckle up before the plane took off, and Houston refused.
The singer reportedly missed a flight earlier that day. The crew member told Whitney that if she didn’t buckle up, she'd get kicked off the plane. So then, she made one of the flight attendants fasten the seatbelt for her, and then the plane was cleared for takeoff.
