What To Watch On TV: Friday Edition
Men in Trees @ 8pm
Struggling in its 10 pm (ET) time slot, this gentle comedy-drama now leads off ABC's Friday lineup, and poor Patrick is leading with his chin as he gets into the ring with a fearsome mud wrestler named Sapphire (Dot-Marie Jones). The occasion: Mr. Bachelor's bachelor party. The planner: his best man, Marin, who's also Annie's maid of honor. In other romantic news, Marin's love life is busy, but not in a good way. The May-December (actually, June-August) nature of Dick and Celia's relationship hits her hard. And Sara and Eric are getting serious, but no sex, please — he's a pastor!
Friday Night Lights @ 9pm
FNL fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that Coach Taylor is home. Tami has help with the baby, and Julie even seems to be coming around. Everything is back to normal for our favorite coach, right? Not so much. There's still that giant mess of a team to deal with, not to mention the feud between new enemies Matt and Smash. Facing an equally daunting goal is Lyla, whom Riggins recruits to talk some sense into a heartbreakingly hopeful Street. And finally, Landry tries to cope with his guilt by immersing himself in football.
Women's Murder Club @ 9pm
ABC has ordered three more scripts for Women's Murder Club and not a moment too soon, given that a writers' strike could start anytime. he club investigates a drug ring being run out of a nursing home; Lindsay reluctantly agrees to go on a date; and Jill takes a big step in her love life.
The flashy series fleshes out an episode with naked ambition tonight. For one, Danny and Mike attend a birthday bash — at a strip bar, no less. More bare facts: Piper is hyper when she desperately hunts down a risqué video, and goody-goody Delinda champions rights for exotic dancers in Sin City (or is it skin city)!
