Weeds

If you're as big of a Weeds fans as I am, you already have your calendar marked for the season premiere.

Season five ended with Nancy's son Shane killing Esteban's "wife" and her motionless body flowing in a pool of blood...in the pool. So season six of course follows Nancy, played by Mary-Louise Parker, packing up and moving the family "north."

With no where to go and the Mexican mob looking for them, the new season is sure to be filled with tons of drama--and laughs. Oh and by the way, they're no longer the Botwins, they're the Newmans!

Check out some behind the scenes stuff from the new season below...can't wait!

Season six stars on Monday, August 16th at 10PM/ET on Showtime.

Alanis Morissette is heading to television! She’s nabbed a role on one of the best shows on cable—Weeds. She joins the cast in the fifth season of the Showtime, playing Nancy’s (Mary-Louise Parker) no-nonsense OB/GYN Dr. Audra Kitson, and will appear in at least seven of the thirteen episodes.

On this season of Weeds, Nancy’s pregnancy brings security, then jeopardy and maybe the end of Esteban’s (Demian Bichir) political career; Celia’s return to Ren-Mar brings a powerful new job prospect, Andy’s (Justin Kirk) new love interest brings unexpected consequences; and Doug (Kevin Nealon) and Silas (Hunter Parrish) open a new pot club.

We don’t know much else, except for the fact that Alanis’ character is rumored to be a love interest for Andy. He’s never had much luck I that department. So will be hooking up with his sister-in-law’s gyno? Only on Weeds!

According to EW, Alanis will also have to partake in “tasteful nudity.” Don’t forget, as Hollyscoop previously reported, Jennifer Jason Leigh will also be a part of the cast this season. We have a lot to be excited about!

Tune in June 8th at 10PM on Showtime for the season 5 premiere.

The cast and crew of HBO's new hit series In Treatment had a lot to celebrate today, scoring 5 Golden Globe nominations with lead star Gabriel Byrne scoring the prestigious nomination for "Best Actor."

The Emmy award winning HBO series John Adams took 4 nominations, while HBO made for TV movie Recount took 5 nomination. It definitely was a big morning for HBO, who received 22 nominations, including 3 nominations for its hit comedy Entourage. Tina’s partner in crime Alec Baldwin got himself an GG nomination for his role as the slick, scrupulous network executive. Eat your heart out Kim Basinger.

Showtime also had a great morning receiving the second most nominations for a network. Their hit shows Dexter, The Tudors, Weeds and Californication all got nominations. Check out the full list of nominees here.
This year’s Writer’s Guild of America nominees were announced this morning, and The Simpsons is the pack leader. They’re even in contention for one the biggest prizes of the night, best comedy series. Also in the race in that category is Weeds, Entourage, 30 Rock, and The Office. How can you pick between those shows? They’re all so good!

This is the first time The Simpsons has been nominated for best comedy series in its 19 series on the air. 30 Rock comes in second for number of nominations. Check out the list of the major categories, and click here for the full list of WGA Nominees.

Weeds @ 10pm
Life (and death) on the Cal-Mex border becomes fraught with seriously involving drama, as the fourth season ends with a hold-onto-your-seat cliff-hanger. Good guys (to whom Nancy has been talking) and bad guys are being shot and tortured; buddies are screwing their friend's girlfriends; daughters are turning on their mothers; sons are getting deeper into the illicit family business. And Esteban's evil empire is in danger of crashing down around him, and he holds photographic evidence as to whom is responsible. Wait until you see the photo finish that it all comes down to.

The Closer @ 9pm
The Closer closes up its 10-episode summer season arc with a decidedly explosive outing revolving around the death of a teenager. Top cop Brenda Leigh Johnson and her prime-crime Priority Homicide Division (well, now renamed the Major Crimes Division after its moniker overhaul) suspect the teen's death is connected to a meticulous bombing plot. Soon a bombshell is dropped: If the fiery scheme goes off, hundreds of innocent people will perish. Racing against the tick-tock of time, our lovely Southern lass must find the weapon of mass destruction before all hell breaks loose.

One Tree Hill @ 9pm
Tree Hill is no stranger to tragedy, and last week yet another shooting death rocked this small North Carolina town. A few years ago, the gang grieved the death of Lucas' beloved uncle Keith, and tonight they come to grips with the loss of teenage basketball star Quentin. What makes things harder this time is the fact that Nathan and Haley have to convey the concept of death to their 5-year-old son, Jamie, and help him cope with the loss of a friend he looked up to.

Prison Break @ 9pm
For now, a card-a-week pattern seems to be emerging, with Wyatt (Cress Williams) a step or two behind our gang. Tonight he'll track them to L.A., and Sara in particular is advised to watch her back. But then Wyatt should do the same because Mahone's gunning for him — and it's personal. Meanwhile, look for a rough day at the office for T-Bag, who's also beginning to discover that the bird book might be more trouble than it's worth.
Nancy is still boinkin' the Tijuana drug kingpin mayor guy. Because of her stressed-induced migraine, Esteban takes her to some herbalist dude to drink some peyote or whatever. Celia is being brought into an intervention.

Andy has found Maria, and smuggles her along with a few others across the border with the help of Doug. Minuteman extraordinaire, and over-muscular women obsessed, Lee Majors catches them in the act but lets them go never wanting to see them again.

Silas is babysitting Lisa's son while she's out to dinner with her ex-husband. Silas is having all kinds of second thoughts on what he's actually doing. Shane brings over two edgy girls from school whom he thinks he's going to have sex with.

At the end we still don't know transpired, only that they are all asleep lying down next to each other. There are some mystery boxes that are being smuggled in to the Maternity shop. Nancy doesn't know what's inside but remains curious.
The Hills @ 10pm
LC and the gals are back for a fourth season of this breezy hit reality show. What's up with these hotties? Lauren's looking for love, and a boyfriend from her past may have something to say about that. Heidi and Spencer are playing house, and Lauren's still not talking to them. Whitney graduated college, and she's sweating her first real job and being newly single. And Audrina has her first real boyfriend, but she's out so much with Lauren that she may not be able to keep him.

Summer Olympics @ 8pm
Individual event finals in gymnastics continue this evening, as gold medals are awarded in men's vault and rings, and in women's uneven bars, on which Team USA's Nastia Liukin sports one of the world's top routines. Sharing the prime-time spotlight is track and field, with the men's 400m hurdles expected to be a battle between U.S. runners Bershawn Jackson and Kerron Clement. The top women's event could be the pole vault. Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva set a new world record in July, but America's Jenn Stuczynski is close behind. Viewers looking for something a bit unique may enjoy the final in women's trampoline competition.

Weeds @ 10pm
There is a new passion for leading lady Nancy. She learns that Esteban's tunnel is being used for purposes other than drugs; Celia's family, fearful of her drug use, stages an intervention; Andy finds Maria in Mexico and brings her back across the border; Shane spends quality time with his two new girlfriends.

I Want to Work for Diddy @ 9pm
Usually, this show is all about Diddy, but tonight it's all about Sean John. (OK, so that's really the same thing.) Diddy's fashion line is at the heart of tonight's challenge, in which two people from each team fly to Paris and go on a bit of a "Where's Waldo?" mission. They must find a model that Diddy saw in a magazine, and then use their best sales pitch to convince her to come back to New York City with them and model for Sean Jean. Factor in a time limit and a language barrier, and this challenge gets even harder.

Mary-Louise Parker is taking her act to the stage. She's just landed the lead role in a revival of Henrik Insen's famous play Hedda Gabler. She starts her run in New York in January 2009 when Weeds is on hiatus.

This isn't Parker's first time on the stage; she first appeared in Reckless in 2004, and even won a Tony for her performance in Proof. She does have some big shoes to fill in this role though.

The role was last played by Cate Blanchett at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2006.
Nancy is back in the game, and Guillermo doesn't like it. When Esteban sits them both down to discuss the fact that Guillermo was planning on killing Nancy in front of her children, shock undoubtedly filled her face. This isn't going to be the last time we see Guillermo.

Also it's the first day of school, and boy are Shane and Izzy happy about that. Celia is drugged out on everything but weed just to keep her from being so bored that she kills herself while working at the Maternity Shop. Silas and Lisa, the hot cheese shop mom, are still going at it. Silas reveals that he's a businessman as well, much to the surprise of Lisa. Shocked at first, by the end she seeds an entire room in the back of her shop for Silas to grow his weed.

Andy and Doug are doing the coyote thing. Doug is with the Minutemen, and its fearless leader (played by Six Million Dollar Man's Lee Majors) while Andy is on the other side of the border leading the people to the Promised Land. What happened? They only forget to get paid.

And Nancy, who seems to be getting in good with Esteban the drug lord mayor of Tijuana, sleeps with him undoubtedly getting what she wants. Or does she?
