The Wanted. biography
The Wanted was first formed after Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Max George, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran showed up at a mass audition put on by the founder of The Saturdays and Parade, Jayne Collins, in 2009. After she personally picked the boys out of more than a thousand contestants, the newly formed band was immediately approached with record deals from the most renowned labels, including Maximum Artist Management and Geffen Records.
In October 2012, The Wanted's first single "All Time Low" debuted at No. 1 on the UK Singles chart, followed by their second hit single "Heart Vacancy" reaching No. 2 and their third single "Lose My Mind" peaking at No. 19. The band's much anticipated debut album The Wanted was finally released to a sea of screaming fans on October 25, 2010, and was quickly certified Platinum in the UK.
The Wanted's second album Battleground (2011) garnished even more success, climbing to No. 5 in the UK with the hit singles "Glad You Came," "Warzone," "Lightning" and "Gold Forever." Although the band found immediate success in the UK, they struggled to breakthrough the US market barrier, until the single "Glad You Came" made its way on the airwaves. The single rose to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart while their first American album The Wanted debuted at No. 7.
In early 2012, The Wanted began touring across North America as the opening act for some of the most famous music acts, including Britney Spears and Justin Bieber.
The band's third album Third Strike was set to release on December 3, 2012, but the date was pushed back until February 2013, providing them with more time to perfect the album. They later revealed the album would include a variety of collaborations with artists like, Pitbull, Chris Brown, LMFAO and Rita Ora.
