Funnylady Wanda Sykes is getting her own show. With MadTV getting cancelled, Fox needed a new show to fill their Saturday night timeslot, and Wanda is their woman!
The show will be called The Sykes Show, and will include panel discussions, as well as field pieces. The program will delve into current topics, with a regular panel of guests discussing everything from politics and race to pop culture with a comedic twist.
Fox recently tried giving Spike Feresten a shot at the 11PM timeslot, but now Wanda is being given his spot.
There’s no word on whether he’ll stick around as well. We think this time slot is perfect! It’s on Saturday, so it doesn’t compete with Letterman or Leno, and it’s right before Saturday Night Live! So viewers can tune into watch Sykes, and then switch the channel over to SNL when she’s over. The show will be launched this Fall or in January 2010.
Wanda is one busy lady right now! She still co-stars in New Adventures of Old Christine, and is gearing up for a huge gig at The White House this month where she’ll be hosting the annual White House Correcpondents’ Dinner.
