Christina Aguilera’s “At Last” Tribute to Etta James

Christina Aguilera paid tribute to Etta James over the weekend as she sang her own rendition of Etta’s hit song “At Last” at her funeral. Christina is getting a lot of slack for her performance. Many are saying she didn’t sound great and she basically killed the song by stretching it so much to the point it was unrecognizable. Before Christina launched into her song she thanked Etta, “She was the one that cut right into my soul and spoke to me, so tonight, Etta, this song is for you.” Stevie Wonder also performed during the funeral. He actually sang three songs during the service, including “Shelter in the Rain,” an a cappella version of “The Lord’s Prayer” and a harmonica solo. Are people just finding an excuse to hate on Christina Aguilera at this point? Did you guys see her performance?
