Usher Hasn't Signed Up for Michael Jackson Tribute Album

HOLLYSCOOP EXCLUSIVE

Though no one can ever replace Michael Jackson, the contemporary artist perhaps most closely associated with Michael is Usher.

Usher performed a heartfelt rendition of Michael's "Gone Too Soon" at the public memorial service for Michael Jackson back in July, so it would only make sense that Usher would collaborate with other stars for the Michael Jackson Tribute album we've been hearing so much about.

But Usher tells Hollyscoop exclusively that "there’s a lot of projects around Michael Jackson that [he has] considered," but he hasn't officially signed on for anything yet.

"That isn’t necessarily one I have 100% signed up on but it sounds incredible and whether I want it or not, I wish it well," Usher told Hollyscoop at the Vegas Magazine party for the cover of the men's issue at the Palms in Las Vegas.

Reflecting back on his emotional performance during Michael Jackson's Memorial service, Usher said, "It was a great moment for me to sing for Michael I'll never forget it and it was a moment of history for me."

But like they say, the show must go on! Mariah Carey, Madonna, Beyonce and Robbie Williams have already agreed to record tracks for the tribute album, and we hear Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Lionel Richie are also considering working on the album.

Usher certainly has his hands full right now. He just wrapped up his new album, tentatively called "Monster" and is busy promoting his new Vegas magazine cover. But not having him on the tribute album would make it feel incomplete. What do you think of Usher skipping out on the Michael tribute album?

He called Michael "a sodomite." Awful, hurtful words for a dead person!

if he dont want to do it oh well, as they say the show must go on. there's lots of other singers. they just need to do something. like jermaine said it was kind of toned down for a michael jackson tribute.

I think it's a great idea. Some of these "tribute" things to Michael seem a bit ridiculous. If you want to honor MJ buy his music.
