A fire broke out at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta Tuesday evening, requiring more than 100 firefighters to put out the blaze!
Oh no, I wonder if this will hurt Tyler Perry’s productivity? This just in…Tyler Perry Studios will only release 100 films this year, as apposed to the 300 he was planning pre-fire damage. I’m kidding, but not about the fire!
Luckily the flames were contained to just his backlot area.
“Atlanta firefighters responded immediately to a fire which damaged the backlot façade of one of the buildings at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. We are grateful that there were no injuries, and that 99 percent of the damage is limited to the backlot façade,” Tyler Perry Studios released in a statement.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but maybe a jealous Spike Lee set it ablaze? Too soon? #Justsayin.
So far, no injuries were reported and a very gracious Tyler Perry extended his thanks to the Atlanta fire department in a statement.
“Mr. Perry wishes to express his heartfelt thanks to the Atlanta fire department for their professionalism in their quick response and limiting the damage.”
The fire began just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday and burned through the exterior façade of a large building on what Perry dubbed “34th Street” after the famous Christmas film, “Miracle on 34th Street.”
The fire didn’t go past the exterior because the building was just a set and the interior was built from concrete. However there was some
water damage inside.
