There’s a lot of money floating around Hollywood. If you get the right gig, you can make thousands a day just holding a boom mic. So imagine how much the show runners make—the directors, producers, executives, Brad Pitts...it’s disgusting.

Yet, we only have ourselves to blame. We love our entertainment. A lot. If you want to see how much people love their entertainment, try turning off the TV while someone is watching the American Idol results. Beware, it can get ugly.

Here are the top ten Highest Paid Men in Entertainment of 2010-2011, according to Forbes.

1. Tyler Perry: $130 million: Apparently, someone is actually watching Meet the Browns, House of Payne, and Madea’s Big Happy Family. I don’t want to say these movies are terrible, because I think the billboards of Tyler Perry dressing in drag under the caption: “GOOD AFTERNOONT!” speak for themselves. Maybe Tyler is onto something here, though. Because it looks like he’s playing every character in the movie himself. Guy saves a ton on actors' salaries.

Tyler Perry’s mother Willie Maxine Perry has passed away at the age of 64.

The producer announced the sad news on his website yesterday, writing, "Willie Maxine Perry. February 12, 1945 to December 8, 2009. Thank you for all your prayers.”

Although there are no details that have surfaced regarding her death, Willie is the person who inspired Perry’s most popular character in his movies, Madea.

Tyler credited his mother, a preschool teacher in New Orleans, as the inspiration for the character. He recently opened up about his troubled childhood, including how his mother tried and failed to leave his abusive father.

It’s so sad to hear about her passing at a young age, but at least Tyler has a positive and humorous way to remember his mother by. Fans of Tyler Perry will have a newfound respect for Madea now!

Tyler Perry is doing pretty well for himself. So in the spirit of the season, he decided to donate $1 million to the NAACP.

He said in a statement today, "I feel so honored and blessed to be in a position where I can give. Had it not been for the perseverance and vision of the thousands who came before me in the 100 years of this legendary organization, I would not be in the position I am in today."

Perry is of course a very successful writer, director, and producer of several films, including his latest project Precious, which has garnered a lot of Oscar buzz.

NAACP Chairman Julian Bond says of him, "Tyler is a courageous pioneer in bringing positive images of African American culture and struggles to the screen. His remarkable journey from poverty and childhood abuse to become one of the world’s most successful filmmakers and entrepreneurs is an inspiration to us all.”

Perry’s donation will be distributed over the next four years and will support advocacy programs on economic equality education, health care and criminal justice.

What a great guy!
Actor Tyler Perry has opened up about his horrific childhood telling fans he was beaten and molested as a child.

Perry had kept quiet about his troubled past, until now. He wrote on his blog, "I'm tired of holding this in. I don't know what to do with it anymore, so, I've decided to give some of it away."

"Turning 40 is such a blessing. Especially because as I child I always thought I would die before I grew up," he said. He confessed that he recently watch a movie called Precious, based on the novel Push by Sapphire.

And during the movie, he "watched her mother be unusually cruel to her and I realized at that moment that a large part of my childhood had just played out before my eyes. It hit me so hard, I sat there in tears realizing that somehow, by the grace of God, I made it through. My tears were tears of joy, being thankful that I made it."

Perry recalls being beaten by his drunken father over his love of reading and writing. He claims he was told, "You f**king jackass! You got book sense but you ain't got no mothaf**ken common sense (sic)! You ain't s**t and ain't never gonna be sh*t!"

Perry adds: "I heard this every day of my childhood. He got the vacuum cleaner extension cord and trapped me in a room and beat me until the skin was coming off my back. To this day, I don't know what would make a person do something like that to a child."

"He would beat me mercilessly," Perry adds. "My mother was out one night, as she loved to play bingo, and my father came ome...mad at the world. He was drunk, as he was most of the time. He got the vacuum cleaner extension cord and trapped me in a room and beat me until the skin was coming off my back. "

And that wasn't the only time he was badly beaten either. It's incredible to think about the horrendous things that happened to him as a child and how he managed to overcome them and become one of the most successful filmmakers of our time. Janet Jackson has returned to work for the first time since her brother Michael’s death, which happened just over two weeks ago. Prior to his sudden death, Janet had been working on Why Did I Get Married Too? in Atlanta.

According to her co-star Malik Yoba, Janet is back in action. Yoba said via his blog, "For those who are curious about the state of Ms. Jackson, all seems well. She's here at work, and we've got a couple of serious scenes to shoot today."

Director Tyler Perry had previously done some interviews after Michael's death, telling the media that Janet could return to the set whenever she felt ready.

He said, "Whenever she comes back to work, she'll have everything she needs.”

So many actors return to work so quickly after experiencing the death of someone close to them. It seems like jumping right back into the mix helps the grieving process along a little bit. We’re sure that was no easy task for Janet to rejoin the cast so quickly.

Who knew that comedy guy Tyler Perry had a dark side. He admits to trying to commit suicide during his abusive childhood. He failed at the attempt, and then changed his name to disassociate himself from his terrible upbringing.

"As a kid, I considered suicide and even attempted it a couple of times because I thought it would be easier to be dead. I remember when I was 17, I did something that ticked (my father) off - something minor. My father grabbed me, threw me to the floor and stomped me. There were times when I felt I wasn't going to make it. It was nothing but the grace of God that helped me make it through. It was more frustration than anything - not wanting to be in that situation anymore."

Wow, that is such a hard thing to overcome. And to think of how successful he now is, you have to give the guy credit for picking up the pieces and making a new life for himself.
