Laurence Fishburne Lands First-Look Deal With CBS

Laurence Fishburne wants to stick to the small screen work for now. He’s currently playing a role on CSI, and seems to like it! He’s just signed a first-look deal with CBS Paramount Network TV to develop some television projects for him. Variety reports that CBS is even giving Fishburne’s production company a spot on their lot.

CBS knows this will be a good deal with Fishburne, seeing as though his debut on CSI drew in the show’s best ratings since the show’s premiere. Fishburne says of the deal, "I have always wanted to continue to expand our production efforts at Cinema Gypsy into television, and Rose Catherine's extensive background and experience in TV is a natural fit with those plans.”

It’s funny how all these film actors are now getting into television. It probably helps that there’s a ton of it, and his film offers have probably slowed down a little. But we think deals like these are making television better again. Because although reality shows still rule all the networks, there are those few shows we can always now count on being great every week.

Why do people think that the high ratings on the last CSI were for Laurence? He was not that much a part of it. It was the most interesting episode in a long while because of slight shifts in the scope of the plot that helped it break away from the very predictable pattern that has been established on that show. The formula of ? how many scenes on the street, in a diner, in the lab, in a courthouse, in a car, in the interrogation room. Maybe at the home of a victim or cast member. That was about it. After 9 years it gets old. That same pattern of locale. I voted with my watching not because of LF but because it was going to be slightly different. A classroom- well a meeting room or screening room with lights just on the class members is not such a spectacular set, but Bill Irwin was worth the whole show. He did a fabulous job with a few minutes of screen time. I saw another reason why so many professionals admire hm greatly. Why aren't people asking for Bill Irwin to be attached to the show instead of Fishburne?

Hopefully there will be no strike cause I would love to see him on TV more. Fucking Hollywood striking every year? Shut up and be happy you're making money
