The Hills Ratings Down 30%

The Hills just isn’t the same without Lauren Conrad. They’ve replaced her with the bitchy Kristin Cavallari, but that didn’t do anything for the show’s ratings.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, Tuesday’s premiere only brought in 2.1 million viewers. That’s 30% down from the 3 million who tuned in last season for the premiere in April.

And the season before that, 3.5 million watched the August 2008 premiere. Lauren Conrad must be getting a kick out of this! MTV isn’t get down about the news, however, saying that The Hills is the most-watched show in its time slot for the age 12 to 34 age demographic.

On the flip side, Whitney Port can breathe a breath of fresh air, knowing ratings are up 43% for her show The City, which is in its second season.

Guess the bitch doesn’t always get what she wants!

I think in these times... people don't want to watch a show just about fighting, gossip and back stabbing sl*ts. They want there to be a heroine. Thus Lauren. NOT Kristin. They want someone with scruples and morals and a soul! I feel sorry if Kristin actually is who the show portrays her to be. She seems so comfortable in her own skin and yet MTV had to find her a BFF cuz she has probably left anyone close to that in the dust on her path to the top. I mean...the bartender is now everyone's good friend? Stephanie Pratt who accosted her with Heidi now laughs and jokes with her?? And for that matter Stephanie sits with her legs draped over Kristins chatting and then turns around and gossips about her with Audrina? So the handful of people on the show are not worth watching. Even Lo caught me off guard by being non-commital about Kristin and going out to lunch with her but I think she is loyal to her BFF & just having to do what MTV pays her to do. Who wants to watch an adult woman acting like she is still in High School, having Jr. High School drama? Maybe it worked for Kristin in Laguna Beach but she has lost that tween age group of followers. Everyone grew up & the tweens now, don't want to watch who they consider adults acting like them. They can't relate! MTV better re-focus the focus on the B is not working. They need to find another "Heroine & FAST!

Maybe the show just ran its course or as they say "jumped the shark".
