Fans Want Idol Hopeful Disqualified

An American Idol hopeful who made it through to the Hollywood round has come under fire, with fans of the show even wanting her to be disqualified. B
Her name is Joanna Pacitti, a 24-year old from the Louisville, Kentucky audition round, who blew the judges away with her version of Pat Benatar’s We Belong Together.

But this isn’t Joanna’s first rodeo. She’s been singing from a very young age. At 11, we was cast as the lead in the Broadway production of Annie, and at 16, as signed to A&M Records, and has had songs on the Legally Blonde soundtrack, First Daughter, and the Bratz movie. Her song Out From Under was even covered by Britney Spears, and is on her current Circus album!

Sounding like Joanna is already a pro? Well that’s what a lot of people are saying. And rumor has it Joanna is friends with someone at 19 Entertainment, the company behind Idol.

According to an interview she gave to Philly magazine in 2006, she is also friends with Fergie, who appeared on last season's Idol Gives Back special. She also used to date Mark Ballas from Dancing With the Stars. That’s just one too many connections for an “unknown.”

Joanna’s not the first contestant to have a failed record contract. In fact, it’s a lot more common than people think! But do her connections make her more of a shoe-in for the competition? We think the judges, especially Simon, are always fair, and treat each contestant equally. So should Joanna stay in it, or be disqualified for too much experience coming into it?

I can't believe any one still watches this show-so scripted (like those auditioners truly don't know what they sound like-) joke is on the American public there- and to think some people acrtually think they can effect the outcome-its all ratings guys.

she should be able to compete. like you said in the article, joanna IS NOT the first to have a failed record contract under her belt. american idol is a competition where people compete for a record contract whether it is their first try or their eighth. all that matters is she is not signed now. and if we are talking about disqualifiction..why not disqualify von smith from this season or why didn't they disqualify david archuleta, carly smithson, michael johns, or brooke white from last season? as much as i was for david archuleta and still support him he won star search and appeared on multiple talk shows. von smith, the youtube sensation, has appeared on multiple talk shows also. if we disqualify joanna, then we need to go back to previous seasons and look at the people that made the Top 12 and we'd have like...2 or 3 left.

Having a friend at Idol could be a big conflict of intrest. She does sound like she's been at this for a while, and that she's made quite a bit of a list of achievements. I still don't think holding someone's achievements against someone is the right thing to do. I think she's just out to make a name for herself LIKE EVERYONE ELSE on that show.
