The word on the street is that the
Gossip Girl spin-off is already being cancelled! It hasn’t even gotten a chance! Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that it went from “hot, to lukewarm, to fading but wouldn’t count it out, to dead.”
Ouch! But E! is reporting that the spin-off shouldn’t be counted out just yet. Next week’s episode of
Gossip Girl will feature Brittany Snow as Lily in the flashback episode, acting as a pilot for the spin-off.
What the major problem is with the CW is timeslots. Apparently, there are only 3 left. And with the new
Melrose Place being added to the lineup, that leaves only 2. So the GG spin-off will be competing with Mischa Barton’s new show
and Vampire Diaries for the two slots.
Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural, Smallville, One Tree Hill and America's Next Top Model have all been renewed already for next season.
We have a feeling the spin-off will be just fine. If it’s anything that should go, it’s the vampire show. Leave that to the pros, CW!
