Friday Night Lights was one of the many shows that didn't make the cut to return to television after the strike. But now the word on the street is that it may be getting another season.

Executive producer Jason Katims says there's no deal yet, but he's very optimistic, and the cast and crew are three weeks away from finding out their destiny.

Despite rave reviews, FNL's major problem was ratings. But after finding out the show was canned, fans went into overdrive to create www.SaveFridayNightLights.tv and asking viewers to send donations to fill NBC entertainment chief Ben Silverman's mailbox with miniature plastic footballs. Keep your fingers crossed!

If NBC cancels this show, it will just be following it's historic blunders in programming - ie; Star Trek, David Letterman, "V", et al that didn't grab immediate viewers and got the axe. Meanwhile, over at CBS they let shows like CSI and M*A*S*H build on what were initially lackluster Nielsen numbers and became huge hits in their second or third seasons. WAY TO GO NBC!! Save Friday Night Lights!
