Rick Springfield definitely has a sense of humor to be able to take this role! He’s just been cast as himself in the Showtime hit Californication, starring David Duchovny.
You may remember Ricky from the 1981 hit song Jesse’s Girl. And he didn’t do too much after that! Well, not unless you’re counting his role as Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital. So this is a big step up to cable for Rick!
He’ll be playing himself on the show. In the casting call, the producers were looking for "an actor who experienced huge fame in the 80's to play themselves as a now down-on his-luck-ex-celebrity waiting tables to get by."
EW reports that the role involves “tasteful nudity” and “simulated sex.” Not that that is anything new on Californication.
We can’t wait for the new season! Other cast members just announced for season 3 are Peter Gallagher, Diane Farr, and Kathleen Turner. Californicationreturns this Fall.
