Hal Fishman Dies at 75

Longtime KTLA Channel 5 anchorman Hal Fishman died early this morning, less than a week after he was diagnosed with colon cancer, according to KTLA.

Fishman, who been a news anchor for 45 years, died at 3 a.m. at home with his family. He was hospitalized last week with a serious infection after he collapsed at his home. While being treated, doctors discovered the infection was cancer and it had already spread to his liver.

Called the "Flying Anchorman," Fishman was a veteran pilot and held a dozen world aviation records for speed and altitude, KTLA said. "He is an institution and an icon and the shoes ... will never be filled," said Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, a longtime friend and one-time student of the former college professor.

Our condolences go out to the family, I'm going to miss Hal's commentaries when I watch the news now, and he was always so passionate about everything he spoke of.

My favorite on air memory of him was about three or four years ago when he told a married young woman, the air head blonde entertainment reporter, who was leaving her position at KTLA: "It's been a pleasure working you...uh, working with you!" Oh...you should have seen her eyes grow as big as her head as their secret got exposed on the air...by his lips!!! Dirty old man...and dirty young woman...about 35 years, his junior. But you know, I can't blame him...that whole set was a meat(meet) market. Every female co-anchor or reporter was marrying or banging any rich guy who worked in...or got near the news room. Hell, I would have knocked off some of that good trim if I had the chance too...especially that horny blonde ex entertainment reporter, Hal was obvious banging!!! Lucky bastard!!! Love you Hal!!! Nothing wrong with being human...I mean, we all get horny sometimes!!!
