Tropic Thunder

Tom Cruise stole the show at the MTV Movie Awards yesterday when he came on stage as Les Grossman. He's the character Tom played in the movie Tropic Thunder.

Les is the fat, bald Hollywood type producer that has a lot of character. Let’s just say he needs a movie just based on himself.

Our prayers were answered because Tom revealed that they are actually working on a movie solely based on Les Grossman.

“We’re working on it,” he told E! News. “Yup, we’re working on it.” We can’t wait for that movie! Les was the only reason Tropic Thunder was remotely funny or else it would have been a snooze fest.

You can see the video of his performance from last night below:

Don't You Die On Me, Foley! Kirk Lazarus may have gotten Robert Downey Jr. a Best Supporting Actor nomination, but don't expect to see a Tropic Thunder sequel anytime soon.

Robert said that if the opportunity to shoot Tropic Thunder the sequel came up, he would most likely reject it because "it wouldn't be as good."

He says, "I have a feeling that we'd still make some money but it probably wouldn't be as good. (But) I'd like to work with Ben (Stiller) again."

Robert played Kirk Lazarus in the film - an Australian method actor who undergoes an operation to darken his skin in order to play an African-American character.

He was absolutely hilarious in the movie--perhaps the funniest role he's ever played! Would you want to see Tropic Thunder Part II? What do you think the sequel should be about?

Tom Cruise made such a splash with his character Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder that he’s planning on reprising it for a series of funny online videos. He really thought out of the box with this role as a Hollywood executive, and now Tom has teamed up with Ben Stiller for more!

It also probably helps that Tom just got nominated for a Golden Globe yesterday for the role, so that probably gave them a little boost. Tom tells Eonline.com, "I’ve talked about doing different videos with the character. I’ve started working with Ben on it, and we’ve kind of talked about different things to do. We were gonna do some in our free time, but we haven’t found the free time yet. He’s a fun character. I gotta talk to Ben, but there could be more to do with that guy."

Maybe a possible sequel could be in the works? We can’t wait to see what they come up with! In the mean while, check out one of Tom's dancing scenes in Tropic Thunder. It was definitely a Tom we have never seen before.

What happens when you get funnyman Ben Stiller, veteran actor Robert Downey Jr. and wildman Jack Black under one roof? Chaos! Many are calling them the “Three Amigos,” but we're labeling 'Tropic Thunder' a comedic masterpiece.

'Tropic Thunder' is an action packed parody written and directed by Ben Stiller, which also features a slew of A-listers such as Mathew McCounaghey, Tom Cruise, N`ick Nolte and Tobey Maguire, among others.

The plot of the film focuses on self-absorbed Hollywood actors who come together in Southeast Asia to film a Vietnam War movie under the direction of a first-time filmmaker (Steve Coogan), a trigger-happy explosions expert (Danny McBride) and an enigmatic military consultant (Nick Nolte). But things go horribly wrong when the Hollywood big stars are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.

Tom Cruise makes a rare cameo in the comedy playing a hairy knuckled, baldhead hauncho, which is said to be his funniest role to date.

Robert Downey Jr. will make you chuckle as he takes on the role of Kirk Lazarus, the five-time Oscar winner from Australia who takes method acting to a whole new level and surgically turns black for his role and keeps forgetting he’s Australian.

Hollyscoop was at the 'Tropic Thunder' movie premiere, where we caught up with stars to find out why we should catch this flick. Check out our special movie coverage below, and our Red Carpet Diaries, which is an exclusive behind the scenes video from the carpet.

MORE PICTURES AFTER THE JUMP!
"Tropic Thunder" continued to blatantly prove the genius of one of my top five favorite actors, Robert Downey Jr. and his ability to portray any character he sets his mind to. Yet another stellar performance by Downey Jr. is only a miniscule accomplishment and factor in this already hyped action-war-blockbuster-parody which places Ben Stiller in the directors chair for the first time since "Zoolander" in 2001. With Stiller and Downey Jr. running the helm of this explosion filled war epic, the others involved do not fail to impress. Jack Black is his usual hilarious self. Also, with Jay Baruchel and Brandon T. Jackson holding their own alongside these Hollywood heavyweights, "Tropic Thunder" rewards the moviegoer with everything that is expected of it.

As one of the biggest, most-expensive war films ever being produced runs into some financial trouble, it's cast of pampered celebrity superstars are taken to the jungles of Southest Asia and left stranded in hopes of giving the film its much needed gritty and real feel. On location, these actors begin to follow the script and remain in character, attempting to complete the motion picture. But what action superstar Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), Oscar-winner Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.) and funnyman comic Jeff 'Fart' Portnoy (Jack Black) are not aware of yet is that the action blockbuster they believe they are shooting is no longer a movie at all. As reality bites, these three icons along with two other actors, must become real soldiers and fend for themselves in order to survive an ambush from a local drug group of vigilantes that inhabit the jungle. As some of the actors realize the reality of the situation early on, others refuse to take into account the severity of the situation and continue to not break character in hopes of completing the film.

I laughed, I laughed, and I laughed some more! With is ludicrous "Saving Private Ryan-Platoon-Apocolypse Now-Glory-esque" undertone, "Tropic Thunder" eplodes with its on-point portrayal of war epics, while continuing to include humor and beautifully depicting the difficulties of creating the perfect parody. The cameo's from some of Hollywoods biggest celebrities (which I will not mention here) are non-stop, allowing "Tropic Thunder" to be even that much more enjoyable. From the films opening scene, the laughs commence. Never letting down, the humor, the action, and most importantly the acting is near impeccable throughout. I will definitely see this film again! I "AM" going to see this film again! And, as soon as it comes out on DVD, I am going to purchase this film in hopes of enjoying it over and over again.

Pat the Movie Critic gives "Tropic Thunder" ---- 4 Scoops.
