Tori Spelling and Ricki Lake Share Tips at Festival of Books
In a city known for making movies, the Los Angeles Times reminded us this past weekend that the people of Southern California read a lot too.

The Festival of Books attracted over 100,000 book lovers to the USC campus Saturday and Sunday to the free event. Three hundred exhibitors represented all things books with demonstrations ranging from poetry reading to cooking demonstrations.

Along with the long list of authors making an appearance at the 16-year-old event, some of our favorite celebs showed up to talk about their very own hot new books.

Ricki Lake has a memoir, Never Say Never: Finding a Life That Fits, set to hit store shelves later this year. The actress and talk show host said that she opens up more than ever in the new book.

“I’ve been candid about my life thus far,” Ricki told Hollyscoop. “I felt like I had a responsibility to my audience … to share you know how I came to be.”

The book not only talks about Ricki’s career, but also touches on everything from her battle with weight to her search for “Mr. Right” on three different dating websites.

But scribing a memoir isn’t the only thing Ricki’s been up to lately. This girl’s been busy!

Along with appearing on “Dancing With the Stars,” the 43-year-old host has been planning her return to television with her new daytime talk show “The Ricki Lake Show” that will premiere September 10, 2012.

“I think it’s a new and improved ‘Ricki Lake Show,’” Ricki told Hollyscoop, comparing her old talk show with the new relaunch. “I think the show will be better because I’m better.”

Ricki went on to explain that the audience that grew up with her in the 1990's and early 2000's is now facing new life challenges and that is what the new show will delve into. And if you’re a party planner, Tori Spelling’s got your back with her new release “celebraTORI: Unleashing Your Inner Party Planner to Entertain Friends and Family.”

“Obviously it's a party planning book but I’m big into DIY,” Tori told Hollyscoop. “I love doing everything myself.”

The book gives a blueprint for moms and wives on a budget that want to throw their very own Hollywood-style party. Tori is currently expecting her fourth child and explained that a lot of the book is balancing budget and extravagance.

For those of you planning a summer party this year, Tori offered a quick tip to hold you over before you can get you hands on this fun read.

“Bring your indoors out,” Tori said. "Bringing things like ottomans and couches, books and lamps to a breezy environment can give a fresh new vibe to your outdoor space."
