More than three years after Tom Cruise appeared on the Today show and called Matt Lauer a "glib," he made another cameo this morning to finally clear the air.
During the interview back in 2005, Tom publicly attacked Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressants and Matt for not understanding psychiatry. But looking back, he regrets his comments and said he "learned a good lesson."
"When you talk about postpartum, you can take people today, women, and what you do is you use vitamins. You can use vitamins to help a woman through those things," he famously said back in '05.
Needless to say, those comments didn't sit well with Brooke. Although they made amends, Tom said he "deeply regretted" those comments. He even invited her to his wedding to Katie Holmes to prove all was well between them.
During today's morning segment of the Today show, Tom said: “I thought about it a lot. It was a subject matter that was important. And now it’s being debated in the public, which it should be. But looking at it, it’s not what I had intended. It came across as arrogant. That’s one of those things I could have handled better. It’s not the person I am…I learned a lesson. I learned a really good lesson.”
We were always big fans of Tom and his work, so we're going to pretend 2005 (the year of the couch jumping) never happened. Besides, it was pretty big of Tom to take the high road and admit his faults! Check out the video below. We think Tom is sincere in his apology. Do you?
