Red Bull gives you wings and those wings can help you win pageants.
June Shannon, the mother of the now infamous Honey Boo Boo Child, gave an interview to Ryan Seacreast on Wednesday. During the episode of his On Air with Ryan Seacrest radio show, the topic of Go-Go juice came up, which the mom admitted to giving her daughter prior to a pageant appearance.
If you’re not familiar with the term Go-Go juice, it is a caffeinated concoction that mixes Red Bull and Mountain Dew. Of course, when added to a 7-year-old’s natural energy reserve, Go-Go juice has the potential to be an explosive and unhealthy life decision.
When Seacrest brought up the beverage, Shannon was quick to deny that she still makes Honey Boo Boo drink Go-Go juice, but did not deny having done it in the past.
“That was a one time and one time only thing,” she said. “We don’t do that no more.”
Shannon couldn’t help but admit that the juice gave Honey Boo Boo an extra kick of chemically induced pizzazz for her performances.
“Yes it did,” Shannon said when asked if the drink helped Boo Boo’s energy on stage.
After giving Ryan a family nickname of “Poodles,” June continued, emphasizing that being a good parent is number one on her priority list.
“I am a parent first and foremost. That’s all that that is,” June continued, describing her life with her children. “I’m also their best friend.”
As Hollyscoop previously reportedly, June’s daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” was spotted feeding her sister’s one-month-old Kaitlyn Mountain Dew Code Red. The 13-year-old was pictured dipping the baby’s pacifier in a can of the toxic drink and feeding it back to her.
The family’s spin-off to the TLC hit “Toddlers & Tiaras” called “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” airs on the network Wednesdays at 10/9c.
