Spider-Man 5 and 6 Confirmed

Spider Man 4 has already been confirmed as a go, but we’ll be seeing a lot more of Spidey in the future! Sony Pictures has just confirmed that the scripts are currently in the works for Spider-Man sequels 5 and 6!

James Vanderbilt, who wrote the movie Zodiac, has been hired to pen both scripts. He is also one of the writers on the 4th installment of Spidey.

So we have the scripts, now all we need in confirmation on the lead actors! As of now, there’s no word on whether Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will be returning.

We don’t know what a Spider-Man movie would be without the two leads, but there’s talk about the roles being replaced by new actors, in the way it’s been done with the Bond movies.

An industry source says, “A 40-year-old Spidey just doesn’t work.” At least we’ll have them for the fourth movie! Director Sam Raimi confirmed that both Tobey and Kirsten will star in the next installment.

Spider-Man 4 is set for a May 2011 release date.
