Remember that feeling you had when it was announced that Seth MacFarlane was going to host the Oscars, yeah well multiply that by 100 because it’s just been announced that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be hosting the 2012 Golden Globes!
Are you dying in a good way like me? Because of like, feminism, or whatever?
The two close friends and funny ladies are taking over where Ricky Gervais left off, except not at all because they aren’t mean.
"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup," says Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama."
And of course they were both in Mean Girls. That’s so fetch.
Tina Fey has previously won a Golden Globe for “30 Rock” and Amy has been nominated for “Parks and Recreation.” Also, remember when the Best Actress in A Comedy nominees got on stage last year at the Globes and did the whole “beauty pageant” gag? That was all Poehler’s idea.
There has never been a solo female hosting the Golden Globes ever, nor a female hosting team. Raquel Welch co-hosted with Michael York in 1985 and Joan Collins and Wayne Rogers hosted together in 1983, so congratulations Tina and Amy for this “first ever” accolade.
