In an industry where your appearance must be molded out of porcelain, these 10 successful celebrities and their distinct scars prove that isn’t the case at all.

Miles survived a car accident in 2007 that left scars on his neck, face and shoulder. “I got ejected out the window of a car that flipped and rolled, going 80 miles an hour,” he recounted to Vulture. “We flipped eight times. When the car stopped rolling, I was 30 feet from it, unconscious, covered in blood.”

In her book Bossypants, Tina detailed how she got the scar near the corner of her mouth. She wrote, “During the spring semester of kindergarten, I was slashed in the face by a stranger in the alley behind my house. Don’t worry. I’m not going to lay out the grisly details for you like a sweeps episode of 'Dateline.'”

According to palace sources, Kate received the “scar from a childhood injury” which resulted in a surgical operation. No further details about the scar right above her hairline were given beyond that.

In 2008, Jason was slashed with a broken beer glass at Birds Café in Hollywood. He underwent 140 stitches, leaving a scar on his left eyebrow upon healing.

The scar on Joaquin’s upper lip isn’t the result of cleft lip or palate surgery. It’s a birthmark that formed while his mother was still pregnant with him.

In 1968, when he was just 20 years old, Harrison was in a car accident.  “A fast car crash, a real mundane way of earning it,” he told Parade of the scar on his chin.

The 7-inch scar along Padma’s forearm was the result of a car accident when she was 14 years old. Padma shared the incident in an essay for Vogue, writing that after her family’s sedan lost control and flew from the freeway and 40 feet down an embankment, she ultimately learned to embrace it. “I love my scar. It is so much a part of me. I’m not sure I would remove it even if a doctor could wave a magic wand and delete it from my arm.”

Sharon reportedly received the scar on her neck during her childhood. She was riding a horse when she went right into a clothesline.

Sandra Bullock, actress

"The Wire" actor got into a bar fight at 25 years old which left a large scar slashed across his face. When asked by GQ if he’d remove it if he could, he said he wouldn’t. “It’s a part of me. I have embraced it already. And it’s a reminder of how reckless I can be. I was in a bar and entertained something I probably would have ignored had I been sober. I got what I was looking for.”
