Girls! Girls! Girls! You would have thought we were watching some “Women Of The Year” awards show sponsored by a fashion magazine with all the lady love going on at the Golden Globes tonight.
Obviously there are an equal number of male and female categories, but the lady power was overwhelming.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kicked off the night announcing how this was the year of women! And how women were dominating in TV!
It was the female actors who had the standout performances of this year. Jennifer Lawrence wowed us in her turn from arrow-slinging heroin in “The Hunger Games” to her award-winning role in “Silver Linings Playbook.”
Anne Hathaway was also the most buzzed about actor this awards season, male or female, for her heartbreaking role in “Les Miserables.”
Claire Danes took home her second consecutive Globe for her role on “Homeland,” while Lena Dunham and her appropriately titled show “Girls” took home two awards, for best actress in a comedy and best TV comedy.
Not only that, but best original song went to “Skyfall,” written and performed by none other than awards show darling, Adele.
Oh and just when you thought the estrogen parade was over, “Brave” the Pixar flick about a little red headed girl, goes and wins Best Animated feature.
And of course we couldn’t forget the awesome hosts, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Apparently someone at the HFPA thought it takes two girls to equal one regular host, but their perfect hosting stint proves that ladies are insanely funny.
