Tim Gunn and Robin Roberts to Host Oscar Red Carpet Pre-Show

Sometimes the red carpet arrivals before the award show are better than the awards themselves! It’s the public’s chance to dissect the outfit choices of the stars and either tear them down or praise them for their bravery. There are always as many fashion hits as there are misses. And this year, Project Runway’s Tim Gunn will be the moderator.

Tim and GMA anchor Robin Roberts have been slated to host this year’s official Academy Awards pre-show, called Oscars Red Carpet 2009. Entertainment Weekly managing editor Jess Cagle will also contribute.

We like this trio! They’re all respected people in the biz, and will hopefully not only ask the star “who they’re wearing,” but will throw in some poignant questions as well. For example, maybe a question or two about their favorite film this year.

But Tim’s mind is always on fashion. He called the Oscar’s “the ultimate fashion show.” And he’s definitely right!
