That little scandal that plagued Tiger Woods this year may have ruined his marriage, but he’s still doing just fine financially. In fact, he’s the richest athlete in the world.
Sports Illustrated has released its annual “Fortunate 50” list of the highest-earning athletes, and Tiger is on top. He made $90 million this past year--$20 million in sports winnings in ’09 and $70 million in endorsements in ’10.
Woods beats out rival Phil Mickelson who came in second place with $62 million. Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was third with $60 million. LeBron James, who just joined the Miami Heat, was fourth with $46 million. Alex Rodriguez came in at number five with $37 million.
Rounding out the top 10 are: Shaquille O'Neal, with $35 million; Kobe Bryant, $33 million; Derek Jeter and Peyton Manning, both $31 million; and Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade, $27 million.
