The prom turns into a disaster, it being Fish's first time on stage, and his drum solo takes over the King and Queen's dance in a fit of rage, sweat, and sheer embarrassment for A.D.D.
When Robert is kicked out of his sister's house and forced to live in the basement of his favorite Chinese take-out place, the band invents a new way to practice, via four-way iChat. Because of the heat in Fish's new "apartment", he's forced to drum naked, which quickly makes its way onto YouTube. Thousands of hit later, A.D.D. signs a contract and is hitting the road.
Fish and the kids wow audiences across the country, everyone wanting to see the infamous "Naked Drummer." Fish starts taking his rockstar status a little too seriously though, and the whole band winds up in jail after a late-night party.
And that's where the parents come in! Teddy's mom, played by Christina Applegate, promises to stay for the remainder of the tour, so her children won't be influenced by the wild ways of Fish.
Everything is going A.D.D.'s way. That is, until they get a chance of a lifetime opportunity. Their agent, played by the hilarious Jason Sudeikis of SNL, informs the band that they're opening for Vesuvius in a free concert for their hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Fish flies off the handle, quits the band, and finds himself a miserable job with his brother in law in the corporate world.
Now it's time for the kids to act like the adults. Lead singer Curtis decides the band is nothing without the spirit of Fish, and convinces him to do the gig. Fish and the band play an incredible show, and are on cloud nine. When they think things couldn't get any better, Vesuvius takes the stage. And with one slip of the mic stand, the lead singer's microphone goes crashing to the ground. The only problem is, the voice track is still going, revealing that they've been lip-synching the entire time! The audience goes wild, booing Vesuvius off the stage in a cloud of embarrassment, and chanting, "A.D.D.! A.D.D.!"
This is a movie about second chances, but also about believing in your dream. You can't beat the comedic timing of Rainn Wilson as Fish, and there are as many one-liners from up-and-comer Josh Gad and SNL's Jason Sudeikis as Anchorman. It's less about the music and more about life lessons, but Teddy's Geiger's voice is a definite added bonus!

"Hey there Jenna's MySpacers! My name is Rainn Wilson and I've kidnapped the lovely Jenna, put her, bound, in the trunk of my firebird and logged onto her MySpace to send out this bulletin.
To free America's sweetheart, Pam Beesly, one half of the magic which is 'Jam', you must attend my new movie, The Rocker, which opens August 20th. As soon as the film grosses 18.7 Mil, she will be released and given a peach smoothie.
I've also recently discovered that August 20th is truly a special and historic day. Estonia achieved it's independence! Sting got married to Trudy Skyler! What better way to celebrate the magic of Sting and Estonia than by seeing what is perhaps the greatest film ever made (about a heavy metal drummer).
Many of you have perhaps seen posters of me in my leopard briefs, or the trailers in which my balls get racked by a power strip. And, although the film WILL be adored by legions of teen-aged male Dwight fans, it will also be loved by the whole GD family, including Amish cousins. It truly is a fun and lovely coming-of-age, rock n'roll comedy and good reviews are coming in, including two thumbs up from Ebert and Roeper and also from my son, Walter (who has three of them).
Also, if you're a fan of: Will Arnett, Christina Applegate, Jason Sudeikis, Jane Lynch, Emma Stone, Jeff Garlin, Demitri Martin, Fred Armisen, Bradley Cooper, Pope Benedick III, WINGS (the show and/or the back-up band), coral reefs, soup, Former Mayor Ed Koch, the guy who played Norm on Cheers, baby Suri, dairy, Coldplay, Animal Planet or the letter "Q"…
YOU WILL LOVE THIS MOVIE! So… Please spend your 10.50$ American on THE ROCKER, get yourself a popcorn and a Mountain Dew, bring 1800 of your closest friends so that 1) Jenna gets a smoothie and 2) They let me be in another movie someday. That is all.
Rainn Dietrich Wilson"
We've already checked out the movie, and it's definitely worth the $10.50! Don't know what baby Suri has to do with anything, though….

In the latest film "The Rocker," actor Rainn Wilson gets his second shot at fame with the help of the World Wide Web.
Wilson takes on the role of Musician Robert "Fish" Fishman who is fired from Vesuvius, a fictional 1980's hair band, before they become famous. The movie follows Fishman as he gets a second chance at fame when he joins the garage band of his nephew Matt (Josh Gad).
Hollyscoop hit the junket for the film where we got the chance to catch up with the actors. Our Hollyscoop correspondent Bridget Daly asked Wilson about his main role and how he prepared to portray a rock star. Rainn said, “I used the greatest research tool of our generation, YouTube, a lot of heavy metal videos. “
The research obviously helped, since Rainn got the rocker role down, very different from his role as Dwight Schrute in The Office.
“Everyone knows me as Dwight, the kind of weird, creepy uptight geek from the office. Robert Fishman from "The Rocker"...balls to the wall heavy metal drummer...lets it all hang out, big wig, spandex...just having a rocking good time. Is about as different from Dwight as you get. “
The movie also features the lovely Emma Stone and Teddy Geiger who gave us the scoop on making this comedy. To get the "10 Seconds Scoop" on why you should watch this film, check out our special coverage below. Always remember to Rock On!
