Centuries have gone by, yet the story of Anne Boleyn carries on through books and films. Anne is noted as one of the most influential and important queen consort England ever had; however, not much has ever been said about her sister, the other Boleyn girl... until now.
”The Other Boleyn Girl” depicts the life of, Anne and Mary Boleyn who are driven by their ambitious Father and Uncle to advance the family's power and status by courting the affections of the King Henry VIII of England.
The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same title by British author Philippa Gregory stars Scarlett Johansson, Eric Bana and Natalie Portman.
Johansson takes on the role as Mary and we must say this is a softer side of the actress than what we usually see. Natalie Portman plays the vindictive Anne, whose sole intention is to become Queen of England. Natalie’s performance definitely stands out throughout the entire film while Eric Bana plays the arrogant and love stricken King Henry.
With one sister driven by ambition, the other by true affection, the Boleyn girls tear England apart. One message that the movie conveys clearly is to "be careful what you wish for."
"The Other Boleyn Girl” hits theatres Friday February 29, 2008 and it is a MUST SEE. Check out the trailer for the movie below.
