The Love Guru

Oscars, schmoscars! The real talent pool is at the Razzie Awards! And this year, it was made pretty clear that The Love Guru is not a good movie. The film managed to pull in three different Razzies. But this time around, Jessica Alba was spared! Mike Myers “won” for Worst Actor of the year, while the film was named Worst Picture, and Worst Screenplay. Double ouch for Myers since he wrote the script as well.

Paris Hilton “won” Worst Actress for her riveting role in The Hottie And The Nottie. We so didn’t see that coming! And just in case Paris thought it was a fluke, the Razzies went ahead and named her Worst Supporting Actress as well for her work in Repo: The Genetic Opera. And the fun doesn’t stop there! Paris was given the Razzie for Worst On-Screen Couple with either Christine Lakin or Joel David Moore in The Hottie And The Nottie.

The Razzies certainly aren’t subtle! When they hate a film or an actor, they pretty tear them down as much as humanly possible. Well, all we can say is, better luck next year. Maybe Jessica Simpson and Sly Stallone will both come out with films next year, becoming automatic shoe-ins for Razzies.

Here’s the full list of the 2008 Razzie Award recipients:

Worst picture: "The Love Guru"

Worst Actor: Mike Myers

Worst Actress:Paris Hilton ("The Hottie & The Nottie")

Worst Supporting actor: Pierce Brosnan ("Mamma Mia!")

Worst Supporting actress: Paris Hilton ("Repo! The Genetic Opera")

Worst Screen Couple: Paris Hilton with either Christine Lakin or Joel David Moore ("The Hottie & The Nottie")

Worst Screenplay: "The Love Guru" by Mike Myers and Graham Gordy

Worst Director: Uwe Boll ("Tunnel Rats," "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale," and "Postal")

Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel: "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"
Enough with the “best of” lists! It’s time to find out what movies really bit the big one in 2008...you know the juicy stuff! And The New York Post has given us just that! We have to say, they’re pretty right on with their selections.

The trailer of Mad Money alone was enough not to go see it, and we’d rather watch a Lifetime marathon than sit through the Hottie and the Nottie.

The Love Guru was named the worst one of all, and we agree. Even though it was hysterical to see Justin prancing around in his tighty whities it was not good enough for us to see it at the theatres. Check out the list. Did they forget any? Or did you happen to love one of these “worst movies of the year?”

Funnyman Mike Myers wasn't laughing at the "The Love Guru" premiere in Australia when he had a major case of the runs.

He explains, "In Australia, when you go into a drug store you actually have to talk to the pharmacist... I was looking around and I was, like, 'Hi!' 'Hello, you're Mike Myers, how are you? What can I do for you?'" "(I said) 'I'd like Pepto-Bismol please.' 'We don't know what that is... What is it exactly, Mike?' I was like, 'It's for tummy trouble.'"

But the confused pharmacist needed him to be more specific. He adds, "(They said) 'How very interesting, you're a superstar with diarrhea' I'm like, 'Hmmm, don't feel like a superstar right now.'"

Myers had to stop at several restaurants to use the restroom before he actually made it to the premiere. See, even celebs get the runs!

Six years removed from Austin Powers, Mike Myers shows us that loving ourselves isn't easy, but laughing at ourselves definitely is with his new over-the-top self-help satire, The Love Guru.

Myers plays self-help master Guru Pitka, the second-best guru in the world. Pitka seems to have everything anyone could want from sexy servants, best selling books such as "I Know You Are, but What Am I??" and adoring celebrities such as Mariska Hargitay (her name will be tattooed to your brain by film's end). However, being second to Deepak doesn't sit well with our boy, so he jumps at the chance to appear on Oprah, provided he can restore a broken marriage between star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) and his wife Prudence (Megan Good) in time to win the Stanley Cup.

The good natured Pitka's work is cut out for him since Prudence has hooked up with Roanoke's well-hung rival, goalie Jacques "Le Coq" Grande (Justin Timberlake). Before he can restore the marriage, he has to help Roanoke restore his manhood and belief in himself. Pitka also needs to do some personal growth of his own since he wants to win the heart of team owner, Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba).

Mike Myers is hilarious as the confident and silly Guru Pitka. The gags begin from the opening credits from him using a voice-over machine set to "Morgan Freeman" to rocking out on his Sitar to "9 to 5". Myers stuck to things he knew best: hockey and self-help dogma (as a longtime friend of Deepak Chopra), so he was able to make not just his character come alive, but also Malco's as well. Verne Troyer is back as hardass Coach Punch Cherkov, showing the chemistry he and Myers had in the Austin Powers films. Troyer's best line is an outtake that comes up in the credits.

First time director Marco Schnabel was chosen for his work as an assistant on the Austin Power movies and his adulation of Myers shows as he gives Mike free rein and not letting a single chance at a gag get by him. In the future, it'll be best if he devotes a bit more time; however, to other actors such as Jessica Alba and Jim Gaffigan, whose talents are nearly wasted here. Schnabel does give Timberlake as the metrosexual Jacque a chance to show that last years "D*CK in a Box" was no fluke. He can play pretty boy and goofball with the best of them.

The movie pushes the PG-13 rating with a ton of sexual innuendo, double entendre and two elephants doing the nasty, but this movie will have you laughing from the time you sit down. Some of the gags do get old, but at 88 minutes, both co-writer Myers and director Schnabel knew that a little goes a long way.

"The Love Guru." MPAA rating: PG-13 for crude and sexual content throughout, language, some comic violence and drug references. Running time: 1 hour, 28 minutes.

Mike Myers is BACK! It’s been awhile since Myers has taken the role of an original character, but seems like the Guru’s have answered our prayers with the release of his latest film “The Love Guru.

Last night, crowds lined up outside the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre to get a glimpse of Myers who was kind enough to attempt to give everyone in the stands a high five. The star studded premiere brought Justin Timberlake who will be bringing “sexyback” with the Speedos he sports in the flick.

What’s a Myers movie without his sidekick Verne Troyer who came out on the blue carpet. He couldn't even resist as he kissed the real life Stanley Cup. Verne takes on the role of the Toronto Maple’s Leaf Coach Cherkov in the film. The Love Guru is based around Guru Pitka(Mike Myers) who is trying to help the Maple Leafs break the 40-year-old curse to win the Stanley Cup.

When we asked Myers if he believed the Maple Leaf’s would ever win the Stanley Cup he responded, “I think that the Toronto Maple Leafs need to think about what Nasa says that there is no such thing as failure, only early attempts of success. “

Speaking of success, we couldn’t help but ask Myers about the secret behind his comedy. Mike said, “I just like stuff that makes me laugh. I like comedy I never stopped loving comedy I hope to be doing it for the rest of my life."

Myers went on to say how overwhelmed he was with the turnout of the premiere. “This is all surreal, if you grew up in the suburbs of Toronto wishing to do this and watching films on TV and going 'God wouldn’t that be great.' When I was 11, I saw Saturday Night Live and I was like 'God I would love to do that one day,' so this is all a dream come true."

Myers' latest dream also features the beautiful Jessica Alba, who was fresh from her babies’ birth. The actress opted to skip the carpet but sources tell Hollyscoop exclusively that Jessica came into the theatre through the back doors in order to show her support.

Other stars that attended the premiere included Meagan Good, Romany Malco, Telma Hopkins,Mariska Hargitay, Tila Tequila and Joanne Garcia.

The Love Guru doesn’t hit theatres until June 20, 2008, until then check out our coverage from movie premiere. Always remember “Gee You Are You."

MORE PICTURES AFTER THE JUMP!
Mike Myer's flick Love Guru may be banned in India.  Apparently Hindu groups around the country have requested that India's Central Board of Film Certification and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ban screenings of the movie.

Why no love for the Love Guru? Well, since much of the population of India is Hindu, they believe the movie pokes fun at their religion.  Rajan Zed, who is the Universal Society of Hinduism president, says the film "appears to be lampooning Hinduism."

What's the fun if you can't laugh at yourself?

Are you ready for The Love Guru ? The comedy that is set to hit theatres on June 20, 2008 is causing a lot of commotion with its funny promotional videos and not to mention controversy with many Hindu leaders.

It’s been four years since we have seen Mike Myers do a live action comedy and he is coming back with a big bang. Myers wrote the script and stars as the main guy, Guru Pitka alongside Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake.

The plot entails Myers as an American raised by gurus who returns to the USA in order to break into the self-help business. His first challenge: to settle the romantic troubles and subsequent professional skid of star Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco) whose wife Prudence (Meagan Good) left him for rival skater Jacques Grande (Justin Timberlake) of the Los Angeles Kings.

Although the movie is a comedy, Hindu leaders aren’t laughing. They are worried about how Hindus are portrayed in the film. Nevertheless, Mike does put on a good show and goes deep to discuss what the actual meaning of Guru is. Check out the video below.
