The Hunger Games Earns $214 Million Worldwide Opening Weekend!
The much anticipated flick ‘The Hunger Games’ opened this weekend and basically blew everyone else out of the water.

Early numbers are in and the movie has already made over $214 million dollars worldwide! That’s massive! ‘The Hunger Games’ made $155 million in U.S. and Canada and an additional $59.25 million internationally. That makes it the third biggest weekend opener EVER, even beating out the Twilight Saga.

Lionsgate broke down the numbers: $68M Friday and $51M Saturday anticipating a decent $36M on Sunday. It makes it the highest non-sequel opening weekend ever; and the highest March opening ever.

So far Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 still holds the record for biggest midnight opener of all time with $43.5 million and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 comes in second with $30.3 million.

Movie exes were hoping The Hunger Games would make $125 mil opening weekend, so clearly there’s some extra celebrations going on. Did you get a chance to see the movie? What did you think? Does it live up to the hype?
