The cast was on hand for a very special industry screening of The Ernie Davis Story. The Express follows the inspirational story of college football hero, Ernie Davis and his accomplishments as the first African American player to win the Heisman Trophy.
Charles S. Dutton who plays Ernie's Grandfather, Pops Davis said, "It's about a time in America when America wasn't so pleasant, you will laugh you will cry and you will be inspired by this Movie."
The Express, which exposes the racial boundaries that were being broken in that era, gave an open eye to the progress that is being made in 2008. And the issues of this historical election became a strong conversation piece on the red carpet.
Dutton goes on to say, "I don't mind making it quite known who I want for president, its Barack Obama. What other choice do we have? For that half of the country that's going to vote the other way, Hopefully they will come to their senses and finally vote their real interests. No matter how many of their children are dying in a war we shouldn't have been in, they still won't vote their interests because of some misguided sense of patriotism."
The mood lightened when we talked with actor, Omar Benson Miller who plays John Brown, Ernie's best friend. After getting the scoop on his character we asked about his celebrity crush. Omar says, "I am in love with Eva Mendez, forget about it, she is hurting my feelings day in day out, that's a beautiful women.
