Following the epic success of The Avengers, another superhero film in on the horizon.

The Dark Knight Rises doesn't hit theaters until July but fans got a glimpse of the highly anticipated movie when posters were released this week.

“Rise” is written in large letters on each of the new posters. The promo art features the characters of Bane (Tom Hardy), Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), and – of course – Batman (Christian Bale).

This is big news for Batman fans that have been scraping for details on the upcoming film. Dark Knight is one of the most closed off franchises in Hollywood.

In the posters, the characters pose in a high-contrast snowstorm. Hathaway’s skin-tight leather suit is eye candy for comic book geeks around the country who are undoing the front zipper with their eyes this very moment.

Where Hathaway’s poster shines through in sexy, Hardy’s poster professes “bad ass.” His take on Bane is straight out of a horror flick. And the star of the show, Batman, looks as iconic (and shiny) as ever. Both Hathaway and Bale’s eyes are blacked out for an eerie effect.

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan’s reinvention of DC’s classic tale. Aside from guesses that come to mind from the poster, mum’s the word on any further details. But whatever they’re doing, it’s working.

Based on domestic box office sales, Christian Bale’s "Batman" is by far the most successful interpretation of the Gotham hero. Here is a look at the current standings:

1) Christian Bale (2008) - $533,345,358

2) Michael Keaton (1989) - $251,188,924

3) Christian Bale (2005) - $205,343,774

4) Val Kilmer (1995) - $184,031,112

5) Michael Keaton (1992) - $162,831,698

6) George Clooney (1997) - $107,325,195

Yikes! Clooney’s last?!

Rise up, fans! The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters July 20.
