On Monday night’s finale of The Bachelorette, two men got down on one knee. One of them got an engagement out of it, and the other got to be humiliated on national television.
Bachelorette Ashley Hebert had to choose between Ben Flajnik, a 28 year-old winemaker and J.P. Rosenbaum, a 34 year-old construction manager. Sadly, she did not choose the wine guy. Hebert chose Rosenbaum, but not before making Flajnik get down on one knee just to turn him down.
During his proposal, Flajnik told Hebert:
“Every second I spend with you makes me fall deeper in love with you. I want to thank you for allowing me to feel completely and utterly vulnerable and open with you.”
Perfect setup for a “no”:
“I’m sorry. I know this was unexpected, and I want you to know this is the hardest thing I've done here. This is not easy,” Hebert replied.
Flajnik just walked away stunned, then said: “You can't leave something like this on good terms. It's not possible.”
After viewing the proposal, Flajnik said, “All I remember from that day is me being down on one knee and her saying no, and having the courage to stand up.”
Then, when Rosenbaum proposed, Hebert said yes, telling him: “You mean the world to me and I do not want to be with anyone else forever.”
“I’m so in love with you. You’re the one. You’re it,” Rosenbaum said.
And then we all threw up.
