Will SAG Actors Strike Effect the Golden Globes?

December 11, 2008

The nominations were announced this morning for the 66th Annual Golden Globe awards, and big stars like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Sean Penn all made headlines with their nominations.

While some of the actors are busy celebrating their nominations, there is a possibility a SAG actors strike could dampen their mood. Last year the show became a press conference because of the WGA strike.

On January 2, 2009 SAG actors will mail their ballots in order to decide if a strike will actually take place. Hollyscoop was at the nominations this morning where Brooke Shields expressed her concern to reporters. She said she didn't want the type of devastation that occurred last year to take place again this year.

“I support all of it, I don’t think we can afford it. What we went through with the writers strike was so devastating," Brooke told reporters.

When the WGA strike took place during the 14-week tenure, the city of Los Angeles alone lost $3 billion dollars. With the state of the economy right now, the city (nor the actors) can afford another setback.

Hollyscoop caught up with Terrence Howard during the nominee announcement where he assured us the Golden Globes would not be effected this year. “No, cause we're not acting. We're just showing up to hopefully get an award,” Howard told Hollyscoop exclusively.

Will the award show be in jeopardy? Will it go on as planned? Looks like we're all going to have to wait until January to see how this unfolds.

Nadya Suleman should be on strike after all we did against her and 14 innocent American citizens.

I think as in many countries all workers needs attention and I suppose in this moment it is necessary before the strike, I think it could forecast before but how the employers are in many countries did not see it more. And what a pity if the Golden Globes is not on the air.

I am betting they will strike before the globs and will want everyone to honor it and stop the globs to bring attention to their cause. I hope the globe doesnt buy it
