Terrell Owens spent his Saturday partying in Malibu at the Chapstick Beach House with Maria Menounos and Derek Hough but the former NFL pro is reportedly $20,000 behind in child support payments to one of his three baby mamas, Melanie Smith, mother of his 7-year-old daughter. Not only that, he skipped out on his child support hearing last Thursday and his attorney claimed his absence was because he forgot to call him and tell him to come to court.
Terrell’s child support hearing has been rescheduled for this Thursday, July 19, 2012 and if he doesn’t show up again, he may be thrown in jail!
Melanie’s lawyer, Randy Kessler, told Hollyscoop that they are losing their patience with Terrell, “We are concerned about him appearing in court this week because he has never shown up. He did not show up for his deposition. We resolved the last two cases on the eve of the trial when he paid up at the last second.”
Things aren’t looking good for Terrell Owens. He’s a former NFL-er who now plays for the IFL (What’s that you ask? The Indoor Football League….the pro-ball equivalent of ultimate frisbee) and now he’s on the verge of going to jail. Oh, did we mention he’s broke? Terrell continues to say that his financial “circumstances have changed” and that he’s blown through all his career earnings, which is why he won’t pay up on past due child support payments. That baby ain’t gonna raise itself!
In the past, Terrell would pay up his back-due child support the night before he was set to go to court and then wouldn’t show up to the courthouse but Kessler adds, “If he pays at the last second this time, I think he will still be required to appear.”
David Hartin, Terrell Owen's attorney, could not be reached for comment.
Kessler also adds that his client, Melanie, just wants to be done with him, claiming that this is the third time the mom has filed a case against him.
“We hope this is the last case she ever has to file against him,” says Kessler.
